Kwara Assembly to restrain short changing of kwarans in Military recruitment exercise

The Kwara State House of Assembly has restated its commitment towards finding a lasting solution to the short changing of Kwarans during Military recruitment exercise

The Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary, Barrister Kamaldeen Fagbemi gave the assurance in Ilorin, during the ongoing investigation into short changing of Kwarans during Army recruitment exercise.

Barrister Fagbemi  assured that the 8th Legislature under the Speaker , Dr. Ali Ahmad would ensure a permanent stoppage of the fraudulent act against the State and ensure  prosecution of culprits  to serve as deterrent,saying that "the house would not sit by, and allow some people mortgage the future of the Youth of the State.

He disclosed that the house would also invite all the 16 TIC chairmen in the State as well as the State, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to sensitise them  on the need to always ensure their representations in any military recruitment exercise. 

In his remark, the Leader of the House Hon. Hassan Oyeleke who described the act as criminal, said the House would not hesitate in joining issues with the Army hierarchy in proffering an enduring solutions to the problem.

In his remark, the Secretary to the State Government Alh Isiaka Gold who narrated the ordeal of the State's representatives during any Army recruitment exercise in Military Barracks, said the State had discovered 67 non indigenes impersonating Kwarans during army recruitment exercise, between 2013 and 2016.

Other Members who spoke during the interactive session recalled the uncooperative  attitude of the Army hierarchy during recruitment exercises and their ordeals in the hands of barrack boys insisted vehemently that the act should be checked to protect the interest of teeming jobless youth of the State.
