COED Oro : KWHA charges KWSG on backlogs of salary

The Kwara State Government has been urged to off set the 12 months backlog of salary arrears owed workers of the state owned College of Education Oro.

This is part of resolutions of the state House of Assembly after Considering the report of its Committee on Education and Human Capital Development titled "Urgent Attention to the plight of Staff of Kwara State College of Education Oro.

The Speaker Dr. Ali Ahmad said while reading the the resolutions of the House, directed the parent Ministry to properly monitor the finance of the state owned Tertiary institutions to avoid abuse of office by the management of the affected Institutions.

The House equally asked the State government to take congnisance of the law establishing various institutions in the state before the appointing new chairman of Governing Council for them.

The Legislature however urged the State Government to stop non-Cabinet member against undue interference in the constitutional responsibility of cabinet members.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Jimoh Akanni Abdul Rahman had while presenting the report observed among other things, that the State Government had stopped subvention to the College, without adequate resources for the Institutions to thrive well, the student population was grossly inadequate to cater for the expected revenue, while the strike action embarked upon by the staff had worsen IGR situation in the Institution and called for immediate intervention by the state government to salvage the College from the brink of collapse.
