KWHA kicks against NHIS Zonal office relocation from Kwara

Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the National Assembly members from the State and the State Government to intervene and ensure that the North Central Zonal Headquarters of National Health lnsurance Scheme (NHIS) was not relocated out of the state.

This followed a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by a member representing Owode/Onire Constituency Hon. Abdulrasheed Taiwo Abdullahi on the alleged attempt by the NHIS to relocate its North Central zonal headquarters to Abuja .

Reading the resolutions of the House, the Deputy speaker, Elder Matthew Okedare who presided over today's sitting expressed displeasure over the matter raised, and called on the state government and National Assembly Members from the state to wade in with a view to halting the relocation bid.

Other members who spoke on the Matter raised, condemned the alleged act noting that this was not the first time such measure would be taken against the state.

They however insisted that each federating unit making up the country should have federal government presence in the interest of equity and justice.

Hon.Abdullahi had while raising the Matter of Urgent Public lmportance disclosed that effort was on, by the management of the the NHIS to relocate its North Central zonal headquarters from Ilorin to the Federal Capital Territory.

The Legislator who said that the relocation bid would not only compound unemployment problem in the state, but would adversely affect the Internally Generated Revenue of state through Pay As You Earn tax.

The House also today urged the state Government to direct the state Ministries of Water Resources and Energy to respectively provide bore holes and energise transformer provided for Idi-Igba -Were Community in Ilorin East Local Government of the State.

This followed a Matter of General Public Importance raised by a member representing Share/Okeode Constituency Hon.Jimoh Akanni Abdulrahman on the plight of about 5,000 inhabitants of Idi-Igba Were Community in Ilorin East Local Government Area of the State.
