Lawmaker seeks KWSG palliative measure on Patigi road

A member representing Patigi Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, ?Hon. Shuaib Ahmed Abdulkadir has appealed to the State Government to come to his constituents aid through provision of palliative measures on Patigi- Gbugbu road.

The call, according to the lawmaker became imperative ?as the affected road has become impassable for the motorists and other users of the road.

Abdulkadir who expressed his displeasure on the state of the road while speaking with journalists lamented that unfortunately, it was the only road linking the people of Patigi to other neighbouring towns and villages.

The legislator who explained that the road from Patigi to Gbugbu ?is 100 kilometre added that Gbugbu axis to Patigi which is 50 kilometre has become a death trap for the users plying the road.

He further explained that Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed had earlier ensured that the road was captured in the state 2016 budget while the Federal Government also included it in this year's budget through the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

Abdulkadir disclosed that since the Federal Government has taken over the road construction, work has commenced on the project while the survey has been completed.

Unfortunately, the lawmaker said that ?works on the project has stopped for sometimes due to paucity of funds and economic recession being experienced in the country.

He further lamented that a particular culvert before Gada village has been washed away, thereby making it difficult to pass through the area, adding that a diversion had to be created for the use of the people.

"The ditch is getting worse on daily basis and causing lots of accident on the road. We will be very glad if the state government in the interim can provide palliative measure for us on the road"

"The road mean so much to our people and I can tell you once that road is completed, half of our problems is solved", he said.
