Vaccination Against Measles: Kwara Assembly Called For Participation Of Indigenes.

The Kwara State House of Assembly, has called on the people of the State ,especially Parents and Guardians to ensure that their children and wards within the age of 9 months and 5 years immunize against measles in the forth coming vaccination programme holding between 1st and 13th of next month in the state.

This is the resolution of the House, following the consideration of a Motion on "Implementation of the 2018 Measles Vaccination Campaign in Kwara State, raised by a member representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajigbe Constituency Hon Ahmed Ibn Mohammed.

The Speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad, while reading the resolutions of the House, expressed delight that the Motion, which he said was timely, would enhance the health of the younger generation of the state and called on the people of the state, to take the advantage of the vaccination programme to immunize their children against measles.

The legislature, equally urged the State Government to direct Ministry of Information and Communication, to intensify efforts on public enlightenment campaign against the disease, which he said was common among children.

Hon Ibn Mohammed, had while raising the motion, emphasized the dangers inherent in the diseases and enjoined religious organizations and traditional institution to mobilize for the vaccination programme.

The legislator noted with delight that the disease, had reduced drastically due to the efforts of the state government and international donor agencies.

Equally, the reports on Ilorin Township prohibition against the manufacture, sales and consumption of liquor in certain areas bill 2017 and amendment Bill 2018 on payment of pension to Governors and Deputy Governors were formally laid before the House.
