Kwara Speaker rallies support of traditional and religious institutions on active participation in governance

Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has said Citizen engagement in the 2021 Kwara state budget process will greatly enhance improved fiscal planning by the government.

Danladi-Salihu while speaking at the Kwara South Senatorial District town hall meeting at Ajase Ipo, which marks the end of the Citizens engagement in 2021 budget process, said the engagement is a product of synergy between the Executive and Legislature in the greater interest of Kwara state, which has exposed all stakeholders to first hand information about developmental challenges and possible way forward, according to a statement by Special Assistant, Media to the Speaker, Ibrahim Sheriff.

The Speaker who urged traditional rulers and religious leaders in the State to always not hesitate to advise and guide public officials whenever and wherever they deem fit, noted the current administration revere traditional and religious institutions, assuring them respective arms of the government will always consult and partner with them on developmental issues.

He said "Despite the economic setback occasioned by the COVID-19 outbreak, Kwara state is one of the few that has achieved tremendously on infrastructural development across sectors of the State.

"We will achieve much more with your support, suggestions and advise. I urge you all to feel free to share your challenges in order of preference and give ideas that will help the government achieve socioeconomic turnaround as Kwara South hosts major agricultural and commercial nerves of the State", he added. 

He assured the AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State government will not disappoint the good people of Kwara state, as it would continue to do its best to deliver good governance to Kwarans.

The Deputy Speaker - Adetiba Raphael Olarewaju in his remarks said all challenges mentioned are noted and would be considered in order of priority, adding that the limited resources at government's disposal would be efficiently appropriated to meet the people's need.

Present at the town hall meeting is the Deputy Governor of Kwara state - Mr. Kayode Alabi, Majority leader and Members of the Kwara state House of Assembly, Honorable commissioners, traditional rulers and religious leaders. Artisans, women, youth, physically challenged and community leaders were also represented at the event.
